UGHHHHHHH

I thought this vid would take me 4 minutes as a good distraction from studying but it took me more than an hour and BILLIONS of tries! UGH. And now my fingers are shredded! I really should have taken into account that CLINICAL SKILLZ is tomorrow and dexterity is key! UGH. This was the dumbest thing I have done in a while.

my body is a caaaaage

This song has been stuck in my head for the last 3 days...

It's also a terrible rendition, but instant posting gratification > the desire to make a better vid. BOOM.

Arcade Fire-My Body is a Cage

Also this key is way too low for me. Jon, we'll have to up it. BOOM. SO READY. Epic sibling jam session!!

Ok Go-Last Leaf

Displacement activities are the best, aren't they. I'll probably start yawning and cleaning my apt in panic.

The legit video is laser drawn on hundreds of thousands of expired toast by my favorite Geoff McFetridge. Check it out!

Freak outttt

Finals start Tuesday and now's probably not the best time to have found I have learned nothing the last 8 weeks.

Lazy Sunday

Limbeck-In Ohio on Some Steps
Limbeck was one of those bands I really liked in high school; our group of friends would try to see them play live whenever we could. I don't even know what has happened to them since. One time I was at the Coop Fountain and the cashier was wearing a Limbeck shirt, which triggered some serious reminiscing.

This one is super terrible, but since I'm feeling nostalgic, and it's been a rain- and nap-heavy day, I'll let it pass.

Crooked Fingers-Sleep all Summer

And I really wanted to post a better vid of this, and was in the process of recording a better one, but my camera ran out of batteries. Figures. Maybe tomorrow, next week, or never.

Week 5

This has been a truly terrible week, emotionally, school-wise, and otherwise. Lost a friend, lost a key, lost a lot of time. Went into lab today to realize I know nothing. I need some me time, g damn it.

Second week lull (aka 34th week laziness)

Cover of Arcade Fire-Sprawl II It's always weird to hear your own voice and realize it sounds nothing like you think it does. Also I was not warmed up for this, but this beats reading my MCB paper any time. Also I did this in a record 2 takes, which explains its overall crappiness.

In other news, school has been ok. It's weird being in second year: having to climb a new set of stairs each day has been difficult. Also our weirdly inverted schedule has been disorienting, to say the least. Over the summer, I was nerdily excited to get back into the routine, only I forgot how freaking traumatic this whole thing is, and I forgot exactly how high your baseline level of stress is (I've estimated it to be five thousand times resting summer rate). It's been hard, especially since I've been getting more involved in extra curriculars (Lambda and Friends (School's LGBT & Allies Group)), ZWEACC (Zoo, Wildlife, Exotics, Avian, and Conservation Club), and the Big Sib Committee (this involves pairing first year vet students with second (and third! at least I'm trying) year mentors, and not like, community outreach to underserved community youth. Which is what Bobby thought it was. Sigh. Someday.) And rotations have been way earlier than I'm used to. I did my first one-student on client examination last week (oye) and this week, I did my first cephalic draw after a rather traumatic failure at 2 jugular draws. When and how will I ever get better at these basic things... But yes, with all this going on (plus my healthy dose of procrastination), there's hardly enough time in the world to learn all that I'm supposed to. Oh well.

I'm going to post a better one tomorrow. My fingers are shredded and my neighbors hate me. And this version is still not perfect. Damn you, Sonia.

Now Featuring Harmony!

Dedicated to Jon

And this was the 46th attempt, when we both decided it was time to sing it blind after having a Tsing Tao.

And this failed one is my favorite cause my mom's in the background going HEY HEY. Then she suddenly stopped doing it after that failed take. It was very sad.

Pre-thanksgiving procrastination panic

Cover of St. Vincent-Black Rainbow
Disclaimer: To your surprise, I am not affiliated with Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent. I am not financially benefiting from these vids. I just really like the song? Phew. Hopefully the copy right po po won't throw me in the clink.

Anyhow this video...eh. And since I only had one ear I couldn't hear how off it sounded at times. But this was the perfect antidote to...doing work? Hahah. It was funny cause at one point, in a failed video, I tried to shrug free of the cord and the entire headphone FELL APART. ahahah.

You can find the real video on this site
http://www.blogotheque.net/Andrew-Bird-et-St-Vincent
It's the last song of the show, but this entire video is probably my new favorite thing. In vet school news, our finals are quickly approaching and I am starting to worry. We've covered a lot of ground this block, with a lot of repro, renal, and hepatobiliary physiology. We'll see what happens. I'm excited for Thanksgiving!!

Sunday, November 1, 2009

There are many things I hate about this video, but I don't want to attempt it again for now when I have so much renal physiology to study. Also, GO DUCKS!! 47 to 20. Halloween was amazing; thanks, Hayden and Nick!

Disregard

The fact that I am sick and my voice is out of my control.

The Finches-The House Under The Hill

In vet school news, we had midterms all last week. Pretty disappointed with how I did, and what was represented on the midterms, but things go on as things do. We're fresh onto a new block, with a new group and facilitator. So far, so good. I'm glad they gave us this turkey case well before Thanksgiving...

Apparently quitting facebook didn't help

because now I spend my time recording bad videos of myself. Here's another song in G: Rogue Wave: Eyes.

That's it for now.

Continuing in the tradition of

songs in G (because I know approximately 7 chords) Cover of The Magnetic Fields: The Saddest Story Ever Told
Also. Please disregard bad bed hair. Sorry. Also. The constant peeking at the computer. I must have tried 6 times without looking and kept messing up the chords. All 4 of them. Sigh. You have to start somewhere.

This is terrible.

But you know what? Mary Travers died, and I'm going to pay tribute to her by playing something terribly, recording myself while doing it, and then POSTING IT ONTO THE INTERWEB. Because that is how I roll. Sigh, RIP Mary.
I'm also failing at studying, but I don't think the panic has set in yet.

My vision is going

Each eye sees double. It created a heck of a problem when I was driving the other day, since I was essentially seeing 4 superimages. What's frustrating is that I want to know the physiology behind why this is happening, but that's a learning issue I don't want to get into right now.

Also, I put Radostit's Large Animal Medicine on my lap while reading an anatomy for horses book. And now my bones ache because Radostits is quite possibly the largest heaviest book I have ever owned. Note to self: Don't do this again.

Week 5

We just finished off a shortened week due to Labor Day, which on the one hand was nice cause it was short, but on the other hand terrible because it was short. I feel like I'm expected to know just as much as a normal week (everything about coagulation cascade, skin histology, facial vessels anatomy) but we essentially only started Wednesday. Ugh. We had substitute facilitators all week, which was kind of cool, but it lacked consistency, which I guess I'm a sucker for.

Heading into Week 6, which apparently is when everyone, chill or not, loses their s*** completely. Is that right? Am I supposed to self censor now that I've entered into the professional world? Right.

Halfway through Week 3

I'm totally stressed, behind, but loving vet school. Is that weird? I got so used to feeling stressed and angry during undergrad, but it's weird here. I feel like I'm getting the bang for my buck, the people here are pretty much awesome, and the professors are super into the program. I'm kind of worried because some of the chill people broke down today, and I feel my breakdown is inevitable and will surely follow my positive assessment. Shh. It's ok.

I've spent way too much on textbooks in the last month, but I have to just consider it an investment and go from there. And maybe, I don't know, actually read my books. Sigh. No real time to update besides: forelimb, hindlimb, muscle, patho, physio, bone formation cartilage formation bone healing cartilage healing muscle damage muscle healing white muscle disease lots of inhaling of formaldehyde or its equivalent, LIs LIs LIs etc.
